Sports Development Aid welcomes volunteers across the globe to volunteer in its sport and education projects in picture beautiful Southern Tanzania on the coast of the Indian Ocean.
As a volunteer, you are able to choose from many interesting work tasks and choose to work with children, youth and/or adults of all abilities. The volunteering opportunities are located in South East Tanzania, either in Lindi or Mtwara region. Expected work load is 30 to 40 hours per week. You will be assisted by an SDA coordinator, who will translate and help you with your work throughout your stay. However, learning Swahili language is more than recommended.
Volunteers stay with a local host family, who provide them with their own bedroom, three local meals per day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and lots of new and fun experiences. You will also have a bicycle to move around.

Assist SDA staff with daily tasks
Report writing, stakeholder meetings, organisation of public events, etc. You can let us know your preferences so our team can plan a program suitable for your needs and interests.
Volunteers will always have the support of SDA’s coordinator throughout their stay with all of the work tasks.
Create your own project
Volunteers are welcome to take up their own projects relating to sports and education.
For example, become a coach for a local sport team (basketball, football, volleyball, netball, etc.) or instruct sports, such as aerobics, cross fit, yoga and other group lessons for SDA’s gym customers.
The ideal volunteer has:
How much does it cost to volunteer?
According to the law of Tanzania, all volunteers are required to apply for a class “C” resident permit and a relevant work permit (depending on the length of your stay) in Tanzania. These permits will be covered by the volunteers. SDA staff will assist in the permits’ application process.
Program does not include:
Fundraise for us
Do you want to utilise your networks or create new ones to bring up positive change? SDA warmly welcomes help in fundraising for its activities. For example, you can initiate your own fundraising campaign to enable training for 30 local teachers on inclusive sports – improving the quality of sports and giving everyone regardless of their physical condition a chance to enjoy sports. Alternatively, you can search for funding opportunities for our work online and even assist us in applying them. This is a great way for you to help us from the comfort of your own home.
You are most welcome to send your questions and volunteer applications via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
